A round brush blowout becomes difficult when the section is too wet, too large, or wrapped around the barrel repeatedly. The goal is controlled tension and directed airflow, not constant spinning. Start slowly enough that you can release every section without pulling.
Choose a Barrel That Fits the Section

A medium barrel gives shoulder length hair enough curve without swallowing the whole section. Keep each section no wider than the barrel and thin enough for air to pass through it. If hair spills beyond the bristles, divide it before you begin.
Rough Dry Before the Brush

Apply heat protectant, detangle from the ends upward, and remove most moisture with your fingers or a paddle brush. Hair should feel damp rather than wet before round brush styling. This shortens heat exposure and lets the bristles glide instead of dragging.
Create Clean Manageable Sections

Clip the upper hair away and begin near the nape. Work upward in sections that match the brush diameter. A clean section prevents loose strands from wrapping around the handle or mixing with hair already on the barrel.
Direct Air From Roots to Ends

Place the brush under the section and aim the dryer nozzle down the hair shaft. Pull with steady light tension while moving both tools together. Keep the nozzle moving and avoid pressing it against the bristles or scalp.
Shape the Ends Without Tangling

At the ends, rotate the brush only enough to create the bend you want. Do not wind the section around the barrel several times. If the brush catches, stop the dryer, loosen the outer strands with your fingers, and unwind in the opposite direction rather than pulling.
Lift the Crown and Frame the Face

Lift crown sections upward before directing them back for root volume. For face framing pieces, roll away from the face and release the brush downward. Use lower heat and speed while learning so you can control the dryer and brush as one pair.
Cool and Set the Finished Shape

Keep the final curve on the brush briefly and use cool air before releasing it. Let the hair cool before combing through, since warm hair changes shape easily. Finish with a small amount of serum on the ends if needed, then separate the layers with your fingers.
